Aston Villa to beat Rangers to Joe Aribo signing - report

Aston Villa could be set to inflict more transfer heartache on Rangers after it was reported they were plotting a swoop for Ryan Kent – with the Villains now reported to be leading the race to sign Joe Aribo from Charlton.
Rangers, Celtic and Manchester City have all been linked with moves for the 22-year-old midfielder but The Sun claims that Dean Smith’s side are set to secure his signature.

Aribo has been in fantastic form for the Addicks this season and helped them secure promotion to the Championship in yesterday’s playoff final at Wembley.
Yesterday’s clash with Sunderland looks almost certain to be his last appearance for Lee Bowyer’s side with the midfielder’s contract ending this summer; meaning any move would only cost a compensation fee.

With a fantastic season for Charlton under his belt, it’s no surprise there’s a host of clubs interest in signing him.
Hopefully, Rangers can get a move for Aribo over the line and bring the exciting midfielder to Ibrox this summer.

There’s no need for drastic changes at Ibrox but bringing in a young, talented midfielder like Aribo would be a step in the right direction for Steven Gerrard’s side.
With only a matter of weeks until the Gers return for pre-season, Gerrard will want to get as much of his transfer business done as quickly as possible.
