£19m Man United star linked with Rangers Euro link-up

Former Rangers winger and Man United star Amad Diallo has been linked with a move to Ligue 1 OGC Nice and a potential Ibrox reunion with Aaron Ramsey.

According to the Daily Mail, the French club are considering the Ivorian international as an alternative to Arsenal winger and international counterpart Nicolas Pepe.

Pepe, now 27, joined Arsenal from Lille for a club-record £72m [Sky Sports] and it appears Nice are hoping to offer the Ivory Coast international an Emirates reprieve.

But if things don’t work out in the club’s pursuit of the winger, then Man United kid Amad, 20, is being sounded out as a potential alternative.

Nice linked with move for ex-Rangers winger Amad

Man United signed Amad Diallo from Italian club Atalanta on a £19m deal in January 2021 with the fee potentially rising to £37m depending on the success of the transfer [Daily Mail].

But Amad has found chances at a premium at Old Trafford and in his 18 months with the club has only made nine appearances.

This is four less than the amount Amad Diallo made for Rangers, with the winger joining the club in January but the move ultimately proving a failure given the backdrop of domestic capitulation.

Whilst Rangers would reach the Europa League Final, Amad Diallo played little part in this and the signing of the winger did little to stop the rot domestically.

Interestingly, if Amad is to move to OGC Nice, then he will link up with fellow Rangers January disappointment Aaron Ramsey in France.

Ramsey, 31, joined the French club in the summer following his release from Juventus and also flattered to deceive at Ibrox, missing the decisive Europa League Final penalty after toiling with injury throughout his stint in Glasgow.

Some Rangers fans had also called for a return for Amad this summer with the winger finally beginning to settle towards the end of his loan stint.

But instead the club moved for Schalke 04 winger Rabbi Matondo on a permanent deal, paying a reported £2m for the winger [Metro] with the jury still out as he settles into life at Rangers.

The pressure is on the Rangers board to deliver this summer after failing to properly build on the success of 55 in season 20/21.
