Rangers are through to the third qualifying round of the Europa League thanks to goals from James Tavernier, Connor Goldson, Jermain Defoe and an Alfredo Morelos – but there was yet another injury blow for the Light Blues when  Kemar Roof limped off shortly before the break.

The Gers haven’t had their problems to seek with injuries after four players picked up varying issues against Dundee United to join Joe Aribo and Niko Katic on the sidelines.

Rangers boss Steven Gerrard admitted after the game that he hoped it wasn’t anything too serious but it will be a concern given Roofe missed a considerable amount of last season with a calf injury.

It seems likely that Roofe will miss the clash with Hibs this weekend regardless with Willem II coming up next week in the Europa League.

With Alfredo Morelos getting a double and Defoe scoring on his first appearance of the season, losing Roofe is softened a little if he is only going to be missing short term.

Rangers fans on Twitter were concerned with the former Leeds and Anderlecht star’s injury – with one saying any lengthy absence should stop a potential exit for Morelos.
