Rangers star fires major Liverpool statement as Ibrox dilemma continues

Rangers striker Antonio Colak fired a Liverpool statement in the 4-0 win over St Mirren and has handed Giovanni van Bronckhorst an Alfredo Morelos dilemma.

The Ibrox side are still without a Champions League goal this season and after three games remain pointless and scoreless in a challenging Group A.

But with the Rangers manager setting his side a Europa League challenge to bring the campaign to the final group game against Ajax, Rangers know they need to pick up at least a point elsewhere and hope the Anfield side and Serie A leaders Napoli do the business against the Dutch champs.

To do that, Rangers may well need to find the back of the net and between welcoming Liverpool to Ibrox and a Champions League trip to the Estadio Diego Armando Maradona, it’s the former that represents the best chance of points.

Rangers have Antonio Colak dilemma heading into Liverpool

Rangers have preferred Colombian international Morelos in these matches so far, the perception being that El Bufalo’s all-action boisterous style offers more to the club off the ball.

But as Rangers look to start this game on the front foot and use the power of Ibrox to carry them through against Liverpool, Antonio Colak will have Dutch coach van Bronckhorst scratching his head.

So far in his Rangers career Croatian hitman Colak has been a revelation and scored a double for the third Scottish Premiership match in a row over th weekend.

St Mirren were the latest to fall victim to the forward’s lethal finishing, with his two strikes at Ibrox bringing Antonio to 13 goals in 16 games for Rangers [Transfermarkt].

This follows on from doubles against Hearts and Dundee United and is actually his fourth brace of the campaign, having netted twice against Ross County at Ibrox in August.

Rangers have a striker in red-hot form in Antonio Colak who continues to impress watching supporters and as the Ibrox club long for a European goal surely he’s at the forefront of van Bronckhorst’s mind heading into the visit of Liverpool.

Meanwhile, one former Rangers star is lighting up the league in his home country after a £1.5m summer move from Ibrox.
