Rangers face St. Johnstone this weekend in the Scottish Premiership as they head to McDiarmid Park – and Steven Gerrard is likely to make some changes to the XI that started against Feyenoord last night.

After putting in an incredible shift against the Dutch side, Gerrard’s side will be looking to keep the pressure up on Celtic by taking three points in Perth against the struggling Saints.

Tommy Wright’s side are only one point off the foot of the table after a difficult start to the season and it is three points that Rangers really can’t afford not to take.

Despite the exertions against Feyenoord, there will be no excuse for a drop in performance on Sunday.

After impressing against Jaap Stam’s side, it seems unlikely that the Gers will make any changes to the back five, meaning Filip Helander and Borna Barisic retain their place in the side alongside Allan McGregor, Connor Goldson and captain James Tavernier.

Nigeria international Joe Aribo missed out on a place in the starting XI, with Glen Kamara coming in to replace him but the trip to McDiarmid Park would be an ideal opportunity for Aribo to come back into the side and join Steven Davis and Ryan Jack in central midfield.

Ahead of them, Brandon Barker could be given a chance to impress from the start and Scott Arfield would be a likely candidate to come out of the side and be given a rest.

Alfredo Morelos should keep his place after what was one of his best performances as a Rangers player last night – although Gerrard may look to give him a breather and bring Jermain Defoe into the side.
