Rangers player ratings as Ibrox star gets 10/10 for Hampden masterclass

Rangers have ended their 13-year wait to lift the Scottish Cup with a 2-0 win over Hearts at Hampden after extra time.

Goals from Ryan Jack and Scott Wright sealed the win and sees Gio van Bronckhorst’s side bring the trophy back to Ibrox for the 34th time.

After the disappointment of the Europa League final defeat by Frankfurt, the Gers were dominant for long spells at Hampden as they brushed off suggestions of their European exploits leaving them tired.

Van Bronckhorst and his players now head away for their summer break before returning for pre-season at the end of June and starting to prepare for the new campaign.

Before they do though, they’ll have a party tonight to celebrate their Scottish Cup win and ending the season on a high.

Here’s how the Rangers players rated as they won the Scottish Cup at Hampden

Jon McLaughlin – 7

Barely tested but used the ball well and came and collected crossed when needed. Replaced by Allan McGregor late on as the veteran got a chance to say goodbye.

James Tavernier – 7

Looked a little off it early on but grew into the game as he drove Rangers on to the win. Captain looked like the happiest man inside Hampden when he lifted the trophy.

Connor Goldson – 7

If that was his final Rangers game, there are few better to go out on than a Scottish Cup final win. Wasn’t called into duty defensively much and dominated in the air.

Leon Balogun – 7

A brilliant block denied McKay and he marshalled Simms really well. Almost grabbed a goal himself in normal time as his header whistled over the bar. Solid performance that could be his last as a Rangers player.

Calvin Bassey – 10

Give him whatever he wants to stay at Ibrox forever. Absolutely fantastic performance from left-back from the Nigerian international.

John Lundstram – 6

A little off his recent high standards and never hid as things didn’t go for him. Will have better games and will have worse but he’s off home tonight with a winner’s medal. Going to be vital next season.

Steven Davis – 6

Another who may have played his last game for Rangers and the veteran had a quiet afternoon. Some nice touches but not enough impact on the game as the Gers’ midfield toiled at times.

Scott Arfield – 6

Lots of energy but not a lot of end result. Adds some tenacity that’s needed though and done his job fairly well this afternoon.

Amad – 7

Looked pretty threatening before looking like he’d lose the plot. Should have scored with a header at the back post but looked to be loving it as the celebrations got started.

Ryan Kent – 8

Posed a real threat to Hearts and came close to scoring when he went one-on-one with Gordon. Sometimes his end product lets him down but the threat he brings is obvious.

Joe Aribo – 7

Should have scored but got a header badly wrong. Ran himself into the ground and looked a bit uncomfortable in the false 9 role he’s played recently. Summer break should do him a world of good.

Ryan Jack – 7

Replaced Davis and helped up the tempo as Rangers piled on the pressure. Absolute rocket for the opener and was like a man possessed when he came on.

Glen Kamara – 6

Really helped open space up in midfield as Rangers really took control of the game. Such an intelligent player.

Scott Wright – 8

Quickly becoming the man fo the big occasion. Scored the second and is really starting to come into his own at Ibrox.

Fashion Sakala – 6

On late to try and stretch the Hearts defence in the second-half of extra time.

Allan McGregor

On for the final seconds to say goodbye after a glittering Rangers career. Don’t think he even touched the ball.
