Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has spoken in the past about the positives of getting ex-Aberdeen star Scott Wright through the door six months early.

The Gers managed to engineer a permanent move in January after the tricky winger had signed a pre-contract agreement at Ibrox with his Dons deal running down.

Part of that deal included a restructuring of the Ross McCrorie loan to buy deal which seen the defender join the Dons permanently in January.

But it’s a decision which at this stage is already bearing fruit as not only did Wright, 23, impress in the final stages of the season; but he’s reported for Rangers duties near twice the man.

The Ibrox club returned to pre-season training this week and the image of a bulked-up Wright caught the attention of supporters.

Rangers have put an emphasis on the club’s players attaining peak physical condition and strength and conditioning has formed a sizeable part of the fitness programme.

Wright himself even talked up a new fitness regime back in April as he sought to add strength to his game.

The likes of Glen Kamara, Joe Aribo and Niko Katic have all visibly bulked up since being brought in through the door.

Wright is the latest – as snapped in a training gallery this week – and the fans are wondering just what the Gers backroom staff are putting in the player’s porridge:

Whilst the presence of Scott Wright had some fans turning their heads, the absence of one Rangers star had some checking up contract details as anticipation builds for his arrival.
