Rangers star Cedric Itten was booked and then hooked for loan side Greuther Furth as the German side’s Bundesliga toils continue this season.

The top-tier German outfit are still without a win this season and after defeat to newly-promoted Bochum the side are rooked to the bottom of the division.

Furth have managed only one point this season with the 1-0 defeat to Bochum their seventh loss in eight matches.

It’s the club’s sixth straight Bundesliga defeat and their goal difference is currently sitting at -15.

Cedric Itten – who was a £2.7m signing for Rangers from FC St Gallen last summer – started the clash and lasted 70 minutes before being hooked for Dickson Abiama.

This was five minutes after the player picked up a yellow card with the eventual Bochum winner coming with only ten minutes to play.

So far, Cedric has netted only once for Greuther Furth with that goal coming in a 3-1 defeat to defending Champions Bayern Munich.

Itten’s performances in Germany have earned him an international recall with Switzerland and he credits much of this to that strike v Bayern.

“The call-up was pleasant news, it’s always very nice when a coach believes in you,” said Itten [SRF].

“I think the goal scored against Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga was decisive.

“Ultimately I am playing quite regularly and I have also found the way to the goal. Everything is a consequence of what has been done.

“I’m happy to be back here and I’ll try to enjoy these moments.

“I was very happy to see the boys again. It is a great honour to be part of this.

“It’s another type of football (in Germany), which looks more like Switzerland. It’s a lot harder there.”

Itten made 38 appearances for Rangers last season but only nine starts, scoring six goals for the club.

Whilst Ced the Ted’s loan toils continue, another Ibrox loanee got off the mark for his new club with a winning strike over the weekend.
