Connor Goldson could do no wrong for Rangers last season, starring in the heart of defence as the side won the Scottish Premiership title at a canter.

The defence came in for even further praise as the Ibrox side only conceded 13 goals during the league campaign.

This makes Goldson’s form this season more difficult to comprehend. The term Jekyll and Hyde is a fitting tribute. The Englishman’s form this campaign has been nothing short of terrible.

Has he achieved all he wanted to achieve with the club? Is one league title enough to satiate him?

If so, then it’s maybe best Rangers attempt to cash in on Connor Goldson in January.

His contract expires at the end of the current season, and with contract talks stalling earlier on in the campaign, the two parties remain in a bit of a limbo.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst might prompt Connor Goldson into brushing all the poor performances off and wiping the slate clean.

With Filip Helander injured, Niko Katic out on loan, and the thought of potentially losing Leon Balogun and Calvin Bassey in January as Nigeria compete in the African Cup of Nations, Rangers might have to keep Connor Goldson.

Whatever happens, if Rangers hope to compete on three fronts, we need everyone performing at their best. This just hasn’t happened in this campaign.

Often, when a new manager comes in, everyone has the spring in their step, eager to impress.

Let’s hope it’s no different under the Dutchman with regards Connor Goldson.

Meanwhile, Rangers fans aren’t happy at Connor Goldson comments after the Hibs defeat.
