Rangers B striker Juan Alegria has joined League One Falkirk on a season-long loan deal as the Colombian looks to push closer to a first-team spot at Ibrox.

Alegria, who had a brief stint with Partick Thistle last season, joins John McGlynn’s side as they aim to lift the League One title and end their spell in the third tier.

McGlynn who has already signed Kai Kennedy on loan from Rangers, is excited to land the Colombian as he opened up on why he was keen to sign the Ibrox prospect.

“We are delighted to welcome Juan to the football club,” McGlynn said. “He’s a player we have been after for some time. We witnessed him playing for Partick Thistle last season and he’s a young, hungry, and hardworking striker who I am sure will kick on.”

“He fits the profile of what we are looking for look and we look forward to working with him this season as he looks to develop himself further.”

Loan move is a good opportunity for Alegria to kick on and challenge for Rangers spot

While Alegria’s short time at Partick never really amounted to much, a season at Falkirk is a great chance for him to kick on and challenge for a first-team spot at Ibrox.

With the likes of Tony Weston and Robbie Ure appearing to have pushed ahead of Alegria, consistent games for the Bairns will give Rangers a good idea of just where he is in his development.

Falkirk have plenty of talented players who should provide the chances for Alegria to score regularly and step up a few levels from last season’s campaign in the Lowland League with the B team.
