Former Rangers striker Peter MacDonald has picked out two young Gers starlets who have excited him as he embarks on a new role as a Consultant with the world’s biggest sports management company, CAA Base.
Peaso hung his boots up last year after a playing career that saw him have stints with St. Johnstone, Clyde, Dundee, Stirling Albion, East Stirlingshire and two spells with Greenock Morton before starting coaching in 2015 and combining that with his playing duties.
The ex-striker named Josh McPake and Charlie Lindsay as two of the players who have excited him after working with Lindsay while coaching for Rangers and also acting as a consutlant for McPake.
MacDonald admits that McPake, currently on loan with Harrogate Town, can do things he “could only dream of” as he lauded the young Rangers attacker.
Lindsay came to prominence after his stunning performances for the Gers at the Alkass Cup before making his move to Ibrox permanent last summer, and Peaso was blown away by the Northern Irish youngster after getting to work with him as part of the under-16s squad at Rangers
“Josh is an exciting player and in an attacking team Josh does things I could only dream of as a player, ” MacDonald said.
“He’s got to work on the other side of his game, which he has done at Morton recently, but Josh excites me every day. Young Charlie Lindsay at Rangers too is another. I had him in my 16s team when I was at Rangers and he lit up the Alkass Cup big style.
“He won the Player of the Tournament and scored six goals so he’s come over here with a bit of a reputation as an exciting attacking player.”
Speaking of Rangers Academy players, news broke this week that the Gers are once again driving a proposal to introduce Colt teams to the lower leagues of Scottish football.
