Clips of Rangers loanee's debut has these Gers fans drooling

Rangers loanee Kai Kennedy made a stunning start to his loan spell with Raith Rovers yesterday, playing a massive part in two of the Fifers’ three goals to beat Hearts 3-2 at Tynecastle.

The teenager had been left frustrated in his attempts to get started for his new side as the weather and then Covid-19 issues caused the postponement of several Raith games.

Raith had only returned to training 24 hours after seeing a Covid-19 outbreak at the club forced the cancellation of last weekend’s clash with Inverness CT while weather had put paid to their Scottish Cup tie with Stirling Albion before the competition was suspended.

After finally getting underway against the Championship title favourites, Kennedy helped Raith into a 3-0 lead through Gozie Ugwu, Manny Duku and Reghan Tumilty before a Liam Boyce double gave the hosts a glimmer of hope.

Kennedy looked really impressive against senior pros like Michael Smith as he tormented the Jambos and helped John McGlynn’s side to three points and being named man of the match by the Fifers’ official Twitter account.

The 18-year-old joined Rovers on loan for the rest of the season after signing a new deal at Ibrox earlier in the month, having enjoyed a successful loan spell with Inverness Caledonian Thistle in the first half of the season.

Fans are excited by Kennedy’s potential and when Hearts shared the highlights on Twitter – much to their fans’ annoyance – the Rangers support were impressed by what they saw.

His involvementat the second and third goals had Gers fans looking forward to seeing him in a Rangers shirt in the future.
