Despite being highly-rated by Rangers, McPake’s progress appears to have stalled a little recently and the chance to go back out on loan will help him get back on track.

Gerrard is likely to be keen on the idea of McPake going out on loan and playing regularly and the Gers boss has never hidden his preference for his players to play games rather than just work on the training ground.

The Scotland youth international has been a prolific figure for the B team and impressed in the recent defeat against a strong Dundee United side, scoring the only goal for the Light Blues as they slipped to a 4-1 loss.
